Onstage Bio

Josiah's performance credits include productions such as The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (William Barfée), Wizard of Oz (Cowardly Lion), and Disney's The Little Mermaid (Sebastian).

 

Josiah started acting during his time at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, KY. During his senior year, he competed alongside his peers at the South Eastern Theatre Conference High School Theatre Festival, at which he received a judge’s discretionary award and was named part of the All-Star Cast for his portrayal of Timmy in And They Dance Real Slow in Jackson. He was then honored as the National Society of Arts and Letters Outstanding Arts Student from his school. As he neared the end of his high school experience, he began taking private voice lessons and was cast as a Featured Soloist in the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre’s It’s a Grand Night for Singing.

 

In May of 2018, Josiah graduated from Western Kentucky University, earning a B.F.A. in Performing Arts with a concentration in Musical Theatre. During his time at WKU, Josiah performed in a wide range of roles including William Barfée in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Bagheera in Jungalbook, the Mysterious Man in Into the Woods, and Maestro Spinelloccio in Gianni Schicchi.

 

Outside of educational theatre, Josiah has performed in his community with Distilled Theatre Company, the Lexington Children’s Theatre, and BCTC Theatre. He was featured in Wizard of Oz (Cowardly Lion), Disney’s The Little Mermaid (Sebastian), and Footloose (Willard). Josiah also toured with the Missoula Children's Theatre as a Tour Actor/Director from May 2018 to December 2018.
